IALHA Decisions for 2005 Show
The following quote is from the International Andalusian & Lusitano Horse Association (IALHA) membership mailing January 2005. The quotes are from the board of Director`s meeting Jan. 15, 2005.

PRE [Pura Raza Espanola - Pure Spanish Hors] Commission Report

"We have applied for Cria recognition for the PRE bloodline classes held at the National Show and we are waiting to hear back from Spain - the deadline was met."

What this means is, in Spain they have the Book of Merits also known as LIMPRE - this book keeps track of the amount of points your horse accumulates when showing and also the points of your horses` offspring. If our shows can be Cria recognized, our horses will add up points in this book overseas. The shows held by the Foundation for the Spanish horse are already receiving approval. We had to change the way our classes are held - correct age divisions - and some other things before getting approval.

PSL [Pure Sangue Lusitano] Report

"Alex Dees reported that the IALHA is now the official voice of the PSL in the United States because we have the protocol. All judge requests must be received through our office for PSL judges the request cannot be sent directly to Portugal by any other party in the United States."

Show Committee Reports

"IALHA will not require qualification for the 2005 and 2006 National Specialty classes."

The two main complaints of the 2004 show were "footing and the international judge"

"It was decided not to do the barn party because of restrictions set by the Will Rogers facility"

"In 2005 an International Judge will not be used for Grand National Championship classes. [presented by Susan Cooper as Chair] Seconded by Nadine Tilley. Vote 10 in favor, 6 against, 3 abstentions."

The trail class and western riding classes were removed from the IALHA National Championship Show.

Exerpts from the IALHA Show Committee Meeting Minutes (Jan 14, 2005)

"Motion: Elimination of International Judge for Non-Specialty Classes

A motion was made by Nadine Tilley to hire international judges for specialty classes only at the 2005 National Championship show, eliminating the international judge from non-specialty halter and performance classes. Alison Cooper seconded. Discussion followed regarding the necessity of the international judge in all halter classes, as specialty classes are now championships.

Motion passed (4 in favor, 3 opposed)

In favor: Nadine Tilley, Allison Cooper, Malen Dell, Susan Cooper
Oppposed: Patty Jacob, Ami MacHugh, Derrick Peake

Retroactivity of Grand National Championship Status

The Show Committee decided to recommend that an article be published in the Andalusian magazine reminding exhibitors that National Grand Championship status is retroactive for halter winners in classes offering National Championship titles prior to 2004. Horses who were named National Champions and Reserve National Champions in those halter classes that were upgraded to National Grand Championship status for 2004 have had these titles upgraded to National Grand Champion and Reserve National Grand Champion, respectively."
